Venue Spotlight: The Old Post Office

Next up in the spotlight this week is The Old Post Office, a fantastic space with soaring ceilings and incredible rooftop views. We chatted with Senior Events Sales Manager, Leah Stortz about their upcoming 2024 events season and all of the aspects of The Old Post Office that their clients love the most.

What is the most important factor in choosing a wedding venue?

Aside from being mindful of the budget, we always suggest clients think about their day as a whole – where do they want to get ready, will they do a first look, what’s the overall theme, etc. Then see if your venue fits into your overall vision.

What does your venue rental include?

Our venue rental includes a dedicated security and janitorial team, the spaces contracted, built-in amenities, select tables and chairs and a point of contact from our Events Team

What does the booking process look like?

All bookings start with an inquiry, of course. We like to gather information regarding the event or wedding, chat availability and pricing, and if all lines up, we schedule a time to visit the space. If a client would like to move forward, a signed agreement and 50% of the total rental fee is due to secure the space.

How do you plan for less than perfect weather?

A rental of one of our outdoor spaces includes an indoor backup plan in case of inclement weather. The backup space will vary based on overall setup and guest count, and is factored into the initial agreement. The call for weather must be made by close of business the day before the event.

What makes for a successful event at your venue?

A good vendor team! We are an older, historic building (and quite large) so we rely on our vendors to be familiar with the space and provide as much detail as possible.

What is something special your venue offers to your clients?

On the rooftop of The Old Post Office is the Meadow, which is 3.5 acres of outdoor garden space. We like to offer this area for photos throughout the event for the couple!

Where is your favorite spot at the venue to see a floral installation?

Our Historic Lobby has a built-in rigging point. We love to see a hanging floral structure above the dance floor!

What decor trends are you anticipating for the 2024 wedding season?

We think the mixing of prints, textures and colors will be big for 2024! We can’t wait to see what our clients and vendors come up with.
